It changes the way patients think about their condition and the way they behave when they have symptoms, in other word they realize they are not dealing with a life threatening condition and they learn to live with their occasional symptoms.
Acupuncture:
In IBS is not effective, trend toward symptom improvement.
Herbal medicine:
Chamimile flower, peppermint leaves, licorice, lemon balm leaves, milk thistle fruit, peppermint oil, aloe juice, cascara, rhubarb, ginseng have all been reported to offer some benefit in IBS.
Hypnosis:
Hypnotherapy in some patients trends towards to symptom improvement.
